Ghosts
Noise on the radio
Thom said he didn't know
That voice
A hum,
Buzz like electrons.
Some strange automaton
Said hello
"Dear Thom,
Dear Thom, I'm gone
And I don't wanna be
Lost for long
Dear Thom,
Dear Thom, I'm gone
I'm wandering
The planes of non"
A plea
Thom heard with apathy
A misplaced elegy
For someone else
Still, it rang a bell
A conscience-colored hell,
He started to yell:
"Dear Thom,
Dear Thom, it's me
The one you grieved,
I never got to breathe
Dear Thom,
Dear Thom, save me
Floating endlessly,
I'm cosmic debris"
The pang
Of a memory
Trapped in the reveries
Of his loss
His death
Was God's laugh at birth
Tears flow in bitter dearth
Of a son
Every day
Thom hears the voice purvey
Echos, headaches
Madness falls,
Harder than Berlin walls
"Why'd you let me die?"
Thom can't close his eyes
But
No ghost said "hello",
Thom's conscience, it let him go
Trapped behind asylum walls
Nine feet wide, and twelve feet tall
Vacant stares and shouted prayers
Thom's existence in a snare,
All he'll ever hear again
Are screamed reminders of what has been
